Let’s face it, there are a lot of things going on in the background of your Wordpress site. Rotating images, contact forms, twitter streams… all of these wonderful features actually have a bunch of coding and scripts going on in the background. Luckily with plug-ins and Headway’s awesome leaf system we don’t have to worry about that aspect most of the time.
But occassionally when adding something new to your Headway pages in the Visual Editor, for example, some html code in the Text/HTML/PHP Leaf, things don’t end up playing nice and something ‘breaks’. That’s when I used to contact Headway Support because it usually would keep me from being able to access the Visual Editor to try to put things back the way they were.
Until Headway 1.6.
The latest version of Headway has a new Safe Mode feature. So now, on those occassion when my additions to my site don’t play nice with what’s already there, I have a way of undoing what I did.
And it’s easy.

Let’s say you just added a bit of html code on your page and when you hit that save button the Visual Editor tries to load but that little load circle just keeps running and running and …you get the point. Since everything was working fine before, it’s pretty obvious that your latest addition is the culprit, but since the visual editor won’t load it’s going to require Safe Mode to fix.
So…Go to your Dashboard and scroll down to the Headway section.

Under Configuration you will see the tab entitled Developer Options.

When you click into it there you will see a link to the Visual Editor Safe Mode.

When in Safe Mode your layout and page may look very different, but you can now remove the addition you made. Make sure you save your change, then log out of the Visual Editor in Safe Mode. Now you should have no problem logging into the Visual Editor normally.

It’s sort of Headway’s version of Undo.
This is just one of the nifty new features in Headway 1.6, and yet another reason it’s my favorite WordPress theme for building amazing blogs and business sites.
